12 July: Hand-in of ‘Divest East Sussex’ petition @ County Hall, Lewes

Campaigners celebrate Hastings Council's fossil fuel divestment vote outside Hastings Town Hall, 13 April 2016

On 13 April 2016 Labour and Conservative Councillors on Hastings Borough Council joined forces to pass a unanimous fossil fuels divestment motion, and urged East Sussex County Council to follow their lead.

On Tuesday 12 July 2016, the date of the next Full Council meeting of East Sussex County Council, divestment campaigners from around the County will be travelling to Lewes to hold a demonstration outside County Hall (St. Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, BN7 1UE) between 8.30am – 10am. We will also be handing in the more than 300 signatures on the ‘Divest East Sussex County Council from Fossil Fuels’ petition: https://campaigns.gofossilfree.org/petitions/divest-east-sussex-pension-fund-from-fossil-fuels.

Please join us if you can (and sign the petition before the 12th if you haven’t already done so) and urge the Council to ditch these irresponsible and financially risky investments!
