On 16 January 2016, over twenty people met at the Friends Meeting House in Hastings to explore setting up a climate divestment in Hastings.

As a result of this meeting a group, provisionally named ‘Fossil Free Hastings’, has been created.

It is open to participation by anyone who agrees with its two founding purposes:

(1) to campaign for institutions in Hastings and East Sussex to divest themselves of all investments in fossil fuel companies;

(2) to help empower and support other groups and individuals to work towards this aim.

It is one of a wide-range of groups around the UK, and across the world, campaigning for divestment from fossil fuel companies.

Our second meeting will be taking place in Hastings on Wednesday 27 January: 7 – 9pm, White Rock Hotel, White Rock, Hastings, East Sussex TN34 1JX.
